The exhibition “To Sljeme! Stories from Zagreb Mountain” explores Medvednica as one of the key sites of Zagreb’s collective memory. The exhibition design and visual identity convey the experience of going to Sljeme, something familiar to generations of Zagreb residents.

Through more than a century of ascents, excursions, mountain lodges, the cable car, ski slopes and rituals connected with Medvednica, the exhibition guides visitors through the story of a place to which Zagreb continually returns. Objects, photographs and personal stories reveal how hiking became an integral part of the city’s identity.

The spatial design evokes the atmosphere of forest paths, mountain shelters, maps and panoramic views from Sljeme. Visitors move not only through a chronology of events, but also through an experience that invites them to reconnect with their own memories and emotional ties to the mountain.

In this way, “To Sljeme!” is not only a story about Medvednica, but also about the city, its people and the place to which they always return.
