“Ben the Monkey” is a set of children's tableware that magnetically connect into the shape of a monkey. The project was created as a response to modern dining challenges, such as excessive screen time at the table and the resulting lack of motor stimulation, which is crucial for speech development in children. Instead of passive consumption, the set encourages interaction and turns mealtimes into a process that incorporates play and the development of healthy habits.

The system is based on vertical modularity, with each element having a defined function:
• Plate (Base): A stable base with an integrated tail shaped handle.
• Bowl (Body): The central module with legs, designed for main meals.
• Snack box (Torso): A container for snacks with a lid and “hands” that serve as cutlery holders in the shape of a banana.
• Cup (Head): The final module with ergonomic ear shaped handles and a hair shaped lid.

The prototype is made from 3D printed PLA plastic, emphasizing the principles of sustainability and product longevity. “Ben the Monkey” is designed to accompany the child through various stages of growing up, reducing the need for single use products. The focus of the project is on redefining dining as a holistic experience that connects functionality, motor skill development, and social interaction within the family.
