Festival of the European Short Story

Project
The visual identity for the Festival of the European Short Story is inspired by different historical periods associated with literature. Each literary era was marked by a typographic language of its own, and the project is built around three of them: cursive, sans serif and a pixel font.
The design combines oversized typography, vivid colours set against a black background, pixel art elements and a contemporary text layout. This contrasting and experimental visual language gives the identity a distinctive character, while the use of three core typographic styles allows for simple and consistent application across a wide range of digital and printed media.
