Hotel Arba

Project

The signage and wayfinding system for Hotel Arba on the island of Rab features three-dimensional pictograms integrated into the guest-room door frames, together with the corresponding room numbers. Fabular branding agency developed the concept around four defining geographical features of the island: forest, rock, sand and sea.

The hotel has four floors, each assigned a different theme: forest on the first floor, rock on the second, sand on the third and sea on the fourth. A set of four pictograms was developed for each theme. As these are collective concepts, the symbols are composed of groups of repeated elements: grains of sand, tree canopies, sea waves and coastal rocks.

The three-dimensional execution of the pictograms emphasises the relief and material qualities of the island landscape, as well as the tactile character of the Mediterranean environment. Matter Regular was used throughout the system.
