The “MHAS Visual Identity” was created for the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments in Split, which preserves important collections of early medieval Croatian stone monuments featuring interlace ornamentation and inscriptions from the period of the native rulers.

The identity draws directly on the museum’s collection. Its typography was developed from the carved lettering found in historical inscriptions, including the Branimir inscription, while deliberately preserving the irregularities and imperfections of the original letterforms. This approach translates the historical character of the source material into a contemporary and functional typographic system.
A series of graphic patterns was derived from recurring ornaments found on stone fragments. As every element of the identity originates in the museum’s collection, the system achieves a strong sense of authenticity, uniqueness and an inseparable connection with the institution it represents.
