The “MATE COFFE TABLE” is conceived as a structure rather than a volume. Its presence is defined by rhythm, proportion and the spacing between elements instead of solid mass. From a distance, it appears as a calm horizontal surface, while closer inspection reveals the layered construction and depth of its frame. The open grid supports everyday use while preserving visual permeability.

The design is based on a modular wooden frame composed of repeated rectangular-section elements. Their dimensions provide stability while minimising material use. The construction relies entirely on traditional woodworking techniques, including mortise-and-tenon joints, lap joints and wooden connectors, eliminating the need for screws or metal fixings. The table can therefore be assembled and disassembled without tools while retaining its structural integrity.
Rather than using a conventional solid tabletop, the “MATE COFFE TABLE” functions as an open wooden platform. Smaller objects can be placed on trays, plates, books or other supports, allowing the structure to remain open, lightweight and visually legible.
