Forum

Project
The project “FORUM” is a system of urban furniture designed for parks and other green public spaces, conceived to create places for gathering, relaxation, and outdoor living. It was developed through an analysis of the Zagreb neighbourhood of Savica, with a particular focus on Marija Ružička Strozzi Park as the green heart of the community. The design process examined existing types of urban furniture, the park itself, its spatial organisation, and the way it is used. The formal inspiration came from the brutalist architecture present in Savica, especially its massive concrete forms that emphasise the honesty of material and construction.
The collection consists of an amphitheatre, a family of benches, a picnic set, a waste bin, and side tables. The amphitheatre is conceived as the focal point of the park and a gathering place for social activities and various events, while its irregular stepped form encourages play and different modes of use. The bench family includes three standard benches, three benches with backrests, and one lounge bench, while the picnic set consists of a table with matching benches.
“FORUM” is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of brutalist principles in the context of public space. The diversity of elements allows the system to adapt to different public settings, while the use of eco-concrete and sheet steel ensures durability and sustainability. Through its design, the collection encourages social interaction, supports a range of outdoor activities, and contributes to creating a more pleasant and active public environment.
