Project
The redesign of the “Aira” steam iron was developed in response to everyday problems associated with conventional appliances, such as unclear controls, water dripping, stains on fabric and uneven steam output caused by limescale. The project is based on the idea of making ironing simpler, cleaner and more reliable.
The product’s form is shaped as a minimalist wedge-like base with an integrated handle, giving the iron a stable, compact and visually distinctive character. A detachable water tank with a wider opening makes refilling easier and reduces the risk of spilling, while the interface has been moved to the handle to ensure intuitive and accessible control during use.
Particular attention was given to steam control. The steam burst function is positioned beneath the handle for more powerful and precise performance, while the arrangement of holes in the soleplate enables even steam distribution. The anti-limescale system, which includes a replaceable softener and an additional filter, extends the product’s lifespan and reduces maintenance requirements.
The selected materials support durability, repairability and a circular approach to design. The result is a steam iron that combines functionality, clarity of use and a contemporary, refined aesthetic.
