Program
The Design programmes at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), located on the Mexico–United States border, are shaped by a unique context in which industry, culture, technology and social transformation converge. This environment encourages students and faculty to approach design as a discipline that responds to real-world challenges while opening new possibilities for innovation.
The educational approach combines conceptual thinking, material experimentation, digital technologies and human-centred methodologies to develop products, systems and experiences with both cultural relevance and technical feasibility. Working within one of the world’s largest manufacturing regions offers a distinctive perspective on design, where global production meets local identity.
Design is understood not only as a means of creating functional objects, but also as a tool for research, collaboration and social impact. Through interdisciplinary projects, international partnerships and engagement with industry, students are encouraged to develop proposals that connect local realities with global design conversations.
Participation in the exhibition offers an opportunity to present contemporary design emerging from the border region and to establish meaningful dialogue with designers, educators and institutions from around the world.
