Locations

Oris House of Architecture opened in central Zagreb in 2015 as a meeting place for architecture, design, art and culture. Located at Kralja Držislava 3, the venue extends across more than 600 m² and includes exhibition and event spaces, a 150-seat multimedia hall, and the Forcimer library and reading corner with an extensive selection of Croatian and international professional magazines and monographs.

The House serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and the presentation of contemporary architectural and cultural production through exhibitions, lectures, seminars, conferences, workshops and other public events. Since opening, it has hosted more than 300 programmes, establishing an important role in connecting Croatian and international architecture, design and cultural communities.

Program

The project explores the documentation, digital reconstruction and reinterpretation of Zagreb’s historic façades. Initiated in 2017 during the preparation of detailed documentation for the restoration of historic buildings, it has developed at the intersection of architecture, digital technologies and cultural heritage, with the aim of preserving the city’s visual memory.

With the support of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media, a digital platform was developed in 2020, bringing together 2D drawings, 3D models and their production process as an open archive of Zagreb’s architectural heritage.

The exhibition represents the next phase of the project: transferring digital models into physical space. With the support of ULUPUH and ORIS House of Architecture, the façades have been materialised as precisely produced 3D-printed models. Ornaments, reliefs and architectural details that often remain unnoticed in everyday urban life become the central objects of observation.

The installation creates an imaginary urban landscape at a reduced scale, examining the relationship between original and reproduction, physical and virtual space, memory and materiality. The exhibition invites visitors to slow down, observe Zagreb more closely and rediscover its architectural heritage.
