The “Mokoš” project explores the transformation of pre-used household textiles into a contemporary fashion expression. The collection is made from blankets, rugs, woven covers, tablecloths, bedspreads and other textile objects that formed part of everyday life for decades. Rather than concealing their past, the collection embraces it as an integral part of each garment’s identity.

The design process begins with the material itself. Its structure, texture, signs of use and history determine the development of each piece, with the form emerging in response to the character of the textile. In this way, the collection examines the relationship between women’s work, textile heritage and contemporary design.

The project views textile as a carrier of material culture and, through contemporary design, opens up space for a new interpretation and function. Textiles that once belonged to the private sphere of the home are transformed into contemporary designer garments, retaining traces of their past while acquiring new meaning in a present-day context.
