The exhibition design for “Peaks of the Depths – Underwater Heritage of Split-Dalmatia County” was conceived as a spatial and experiential journey that introduces visitors to the world of the seabed and its hidden heritage. Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are immersed in the atmosphere of an underwater archaeological site, scenographically reconstructed and complemented by the display of an authentic diving suit, establishing a direct connection with the subject of underwater archaeology.

In the central part of the exhibition, the objects are arranged in display cases forming “islands”, structured according to geographical locations. Movement through the space follows the logic of a journey along the underwater landscape of the Split-Dalmatia County coastline, providing visitors with both spatial and cultural-historical orientation.

The exhibition atmosphere is reinforced by lighting and the dominant use of blue tones, creating a sense of immersion in the sea depths. The final section focuses on early modern finds, while the transition into the virtual world of underwater archaeology is achieved through a scenographic element leading visitors into a space dedicated to digital interpretation.

This spatial and narrative approach connects the exhibition’s educational role with a strong visual experience, enabling active engagement with the subject of underwater archaeology.
