The visual identity project for Maraska begins with the brand’s strong connection to Zadar, whose tradition and everyday life it has helped shape for generations. At its centre is a typographic exploration that translates the distinctive urban structure and historical heritage of Zadar’s old town into the visual language of letterforms.

The morphology of narrow streets, hidden passages and traditional gateways served as a framework for developing the anatomy and geometry of the typeface. The project also draws on historical layers of the city’s architecture: decorative details found in passageways, the monumental forms of Roman columns and the outlines of the city walls were refined and reduced to minimalist flat shapes.

The result is a contemporary typeface that connects the historical identity of the place with a modern visual expression. The identity is completed by a colour palette inspired by Zadar’s atmosphere, where Mediterranean cheerfulness meets nostalgia. Its balanced tones feel warm, vibrant and playful, conveying the spirit of daily life in the city and the emotional bond between its inhabitants and the Maraska brand.
