Graphonaut is a global media platform dedicated to visual storytelling, transforming complex subjects into clear and visually rich content through infographics, video, interactive stories and a digital magazine. The project has developed a distinctive minimalist and stylised visual language, creating a growing collection of content across science, technology, health, psychology and culture.
The project was founded and is led by independent artist and graphic designer Boris Benko, a full member of ULUPUH and HZSU. Graphonaut was developed in collaboration with an international creative team bringing together professionals from Croatia, the United States and the United Kingdom, with support from a programme funded by the European Union.
Its premise is simple: people are surrounded by data, but often lack the context needed to understand it. Each project is therefore grounded in research and shaped through a clear visual language designed to make its subject more accessible, understandable and engaging.
Graphonaut’s work has also received international recognition. “Mars Space Tourism”, a visual story from the first issue of Graphonaut magazine, received an Award of Excellence at SND47, organised by the Society for News Design, one of the leading international benchmarks for visual journalism, selected from more than 4,000 entries.
The Studio Space presentation focuses on completed work, including selected stories from the digital magazine, infographics, micrographics from the Graphoverse section, infographic posters, illustrations, video and interactive projects, as well as the platform’s broader visual language.
