Rea

Project
The starting point for the “Rea Olive Oil” label was a typographic interpretation of the olive grove landscape from which the oil originates. A monumental contemporary house is embedded within a typically Dalmatian terraced landscape of dry-stone walls, where terraces, plateaus and agricultural surfaces intertwine until the boundary between architecture and olive grove becomes almost imperceptible.
The label was shaped through the same dialogue of contrasts, resulting in a simple contemporary design free from conventional olive motifs. The emphasis is placed on typography and a raw, reduced aesthetic. A bold gradient of contrasting colours, drawn from the surrounding landscape and architecture, is set against a calm and controlled typographic composition.
The name Rea introduces warmth and a classical note through a serif typeface, paired with neutral contemporary typography for the remaining text. Like the architecture and the olive grove, the label’s seemingly opposing elements form a harmonious whole, balancing tradition and modernity, rawness and refinement.
