Workshop

The ancient art of knotting takes on a contemporary form in this creative workshop by Joir atelier, led by jewellery designer Irena Vučinić Ševarika.

At a time of mass production and fast-paced living, the workshop invites participants to slow down and explore tactility, material and process through handcraft. Macramé, a traditional knotting technique, becomes the starting point for creating a contemporary fashion accessory and a form of personal creative expression.

With professional guidance, participants will learn the basics of the technique, from functional sliding knots to combining different patterns, colours and textures. A selection of decorative cords, beads and charms will be available for each participant to design and make their own bracelet.

The workshop combines learning, design and handcraft in a relaxed format, transforming visitors from observers into active makers. Each finished piece carries the trace of individual choice, time and attention invested in the process.

Pop-up Macramé Bracelet Workshop by Joir Atelier

This two to two-and-a-half-hour workshop is intended for beginners, children and adults interested in jewellery design and handcraft. No previous experience is required, and participation is fee-based. The workshop is led by jewellery designer Irena Vučinić Ševarika.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of macramé, from basic and functional sliding knots to combining different patterns, colours and textures. Using a selection of decorative cords, beads and charms, each participant will design and make their own bracelet. Particular attention will be given to material selection, pattern development and finishing techniques.

The workshop approaches macramé as a tactile and slower making process in which every knot requires attention. By creating their own jewellery, participants experience first-hand the value of handcraft and the approach to design that forms part of Joir atelier’s practice.
