G.IRL Lab: Stylistic Experiments with Glagolitic
What would the Glagolitic script look like if it had never stopped evolving? This workshop approaches Glagolitic not as a closed historical system, but as a starting point for typographic experimentation.

Building on the project G.IRL 25, the workshop begins with a short introduction to lesser-known letterforms and stylistic features of the Glagolitic script. Participants are then invited to explore its hidden potential through contemporary or unconventional styles, tools, and media of their choice. Each participant will create their own interpretation of a letter or word, imagining how Glagolitic might exist in a parallel present in which it continued to develop.

Rather than reconstructing history, the workshop creates a time-space pocket in which Glagolitic can be freely deformed, reinterpreted, and translated into new visual languages. It becomes a space for play, experimentation, and design inquiry into the boundaries of script and visual communication.

About the G.IRL 25 project
G.IRL 25 (Glagoljica In Real Life) is a project by designer Eva Bakrač that brings together a series of Glagolitic micro-uses, typographic simulations, and snapshot documentation from a parallel present in which Glagolitic has taken over the role of the Latin alphabet. The project received an award at the DA! Festival and was nominated for the annual School of Design award. It functions as a visual essay with a clear stance, questioning whether our everyday experience of Glagolitic is far removed from its actual potential.
