Project

The “Node” chair is conceived as a lightweight steel-tube structure in which a single continuous line defines the legs, armrests and backrest. Gently rounded transitions create a distinctive open form that combines visual lightness with ergonomic support.

Its defining structural detail appears at the junction between the rear legs and the vertical backrest tubes. Rather than intersecting, the elements pass alongside one another in a layered overlap resembling a node. This solution emphasises the construction logic and identity of the product while enabling the chairs to be stacked vertically.

Magnetically attached cushions appear to float within the metal frame, creating a contrast between softness and precise geometry. Their construction also simplifies production and contributes to the chair’s functional elegance.

Author

Filip Gordon Frank is an industrial and interior designer with more than 20 years of experience in the design of interiors, products, furniture and lighting. He leads projects from their initial concept through to serial production.

He graduated from the School of Design in Zagreb in 2002 and completed postgraduate training in interior design at the Politecnico di Milano. He founded his own design studio in 2006 and established Polymorph d.o.o. in 2012 to manufacture his products.

His work combines formal clarity and functionality with an extensive knowledge of material-processing technologies and production management. He has completed more than 150 interior projects and developed a series of internationally exhibited furniture and lighting collections. His work has received numerous Croatian and international design awards.
