"SUNNY SIDE UP" is a design inspired by food and collective memory. It shows how even the simplest motifs can become carriers of emotion, identity and playfulness, and how strong design often comes not from creating something entirely new, but from looking at what has always been familiar from a new perspective. Sunny Side Up is a table based on one of the most recognizable motifs of everyday life. The relationship between the yolk and the egg white becomes the foundation of its formal composition – an interpretation of a familiar form that transcends culture, time and generations.

The character of the object is defined by the fluidity of its form and the relationship between its two basic elements. The outer shell flows over an imaginary cube on all four sides, evoking the natural spreading of an egg white. At the centre of the surface is an opening, beneath which the “yolk” shelf is suspended.

The “yolk” shelf has two functions. When positioned on one side, it forms a bowl, while flipping it over creates a flat surface positioned just 1 cm below the tabletop. The shelf is suspended by a simple system of hooks, allowing it to be easily flipped and its function changed. The shape of the yolk, its colour, positioning and method of suspension create a sense of three-dimensionality and visual softness. The subtle movement of the suspended shelf further enhances this impression of softness and fluidity.
