As part of Zagreb Design Week, Italian Design Day will also be celebrated with an extensive programme organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA/ICE) in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Zagreb. Promoted worldwide by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture, the tenth edition of Italian Design Day will focus on the theme “Redesign. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas and relationships”. It is an invitation to reconsider what it means to design and create a quality product today — from the origins of materials and their life cycle, through opportunities for reuse, to the role of new technologies in production processes.

On 16 September at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vincenzo Gurrado of B&Y and Piergiorgio Robino of Studio Nucleo will give talks followed by a conversation. The representatives of Italian design will present the expertise behind Made in Italy products in the field of contemporary design. Their participation will provide an opportunity to further explore the relationship between manufacturing expertise and new technologies, with particular emphasis on the challenges of sustainability and circular production processes, in dialogue with Zagreb Design Week 2026’s main theme, “Friction”.

The programme also includes two photography exhibitions: “100 Vases of Italian Design”, which traces almost a century of Italian design through one of the most archetypal objects of everyday life, and “Light On MADE in ITALY”, dedicated to the contemporary Italian design industry, material research, manufacturing expertise and the development of more sustainable production models.
